Choose by who is travelling, available facilities and access needs. Gellért is closed, and child-entry rules differ by venue.
Four names, different circumstances
Széchenyi in City Park is an option for a large bath complex. Its official site recommends booking ahead and says the building is not fully barrier-free. Check which pools, entrances and services are available on the day.
Rudas on the Buda side of the Danube has Turkish-bath sessions for men only, women only and mixed groups. Check the exact session before buying. The venue currently states that it is not accessible to people with disabilities. Night-bathing arrangements are separate and can change.
Gellért has been closed for renovation since 1 October 2025, with reopening planned for 2028. Do not plan it as an open stop.
If you are travelling with children
Széchenyi and Rudas do not normally admit children under 14. Széchenyi describes a narrow specialist medical certificate exception requiring advance approval. Do not assume a standard family ticket grants entry.
For a family outing, consider Palatinus on Margaret Island, which offers child facilities. Some pools may be seasonal in autumn. Check the exact open pools, age rules, accessibility and hours for your date on its own site.
Five checks before paying
Check: 1) opening and available pools; 2) each traveller's age eligibility; 3) ticket type and change rules; 4) accessibility and changing facilities; 5) the BKK journey. Public holidays may have different arrangements.
Bring what the venue's rules require and check hygiene guidance. Thermal water may not be suitable for every health situation; seek professional advice for personal concerns. We do not list fixed prices because they vary by date and product.
Before you go
Opening times, access, tickets, family rules, transport and events can change. Recheck official pages 24–48 hours before your visit and again on the day.
